15 May Did you complete your Physical Therapy just before the Pandemic: Tips for Post-Treatment Care
Following successful physical therapy treatment, were you preparing for your normal life just before the COVID-19 pandemic hit? If yes, you need to know that even though your formal treatment may be complete, it’s important to continue what you learnt during your physical therapy sessions.
Here are a few key things to include in your daily schedule, in order to maintain your newly-regained health.
Movement is Must
You may be home but continue to move your body by getting regular exercise. This is critical for boosting blood circulation and healing. This will help you successfully complete rehabilitation. So, keep moving as recommended by your physical therapist.
Food is Fuel
You can’t neglect nutrition and hydration. Food keeps your body running, and you must eat the right type and amount of foods that provide nutrients to repair damaged tissues. Hydration is critical to allow nutrients to reach those areas of the body that need repair. If you are working out, the amount of water you need every day is even higher.
Rest is Recovery
Getting adequate rest is also an important part of successful recovery. Our bodies repair themselves when we sleep. So, maintain a regular routine and get sufficient, restful sleep each night.
If you’ve completed your physical therapy treatment, your therapist must have given you Home Exercise Program (HEP) to continue at home. Continue your Home Exercise Program as prescribed by your therapist to ensure your results stay with you for a long time.
